This is my first post after my seemingly forever long hiatus from this blog and I have so many juicy things to share with you, starting out with the 12 Universal Laws.
I’ve been spending a lot of time in the “non-magical” spiritual circles where everyone talks about manifestation, carries crystals, uses sage, meditates, performs rituals, reads tarot cards…
Witches. They’re all witches by my definition and most of them probably don’t even know it!
If you ask me, a witch is someone who intentionally uses magic, which is simply conciously manipulating energy for a desired outcome.
This is exactly what these people do.
And a lot of them are pretty good at it.
They’ve manifested money, cars, houses, partners, dream jobs. Basically anything and everything they want. It’s incredible.
There are a few things that seem to set these people apart from those of us who use similar practices but call ourselves witches.
One of these is money mindset. I find that many people in the spiritual community view money as something that is negative and that you can’t be a spiritually advanced person and be wealthy at the same time. It leads many of us to struggle. On the flip side, the people in the manifestation communities view money as a tool. It is something that allows them to help more people, not something that leads to greed and corruption.
Something else that seems different is the awareness of the Universal Laws. When it comes to the most successful of these people, they know and often teach these laws. They’ve learned how to use them and greatly benefited from them.
As I find myself being called back to my witchcraft practice, I am discovering ways to incorporate what I’ve learned from hanging out in these other circles. These 12 Universal Laws are not only something you can incorporate into your practice, you probably already use them without knowing it!
So here we go… The 12 Universal Laws
Law of Oneness
This law expresses the idea that we are all one, and one with Source as well. As a Pantheist, this law resonates especially well with me.
Since we are all one, what you wish on others, is also what you wish upon yourself.
On the other side, when you doubt yourself, you also doubt Source! If you are one with Source, you have just as much power.
The Law of Oneness can help you out when you are dealing with jealousy. When someone has something you want, that means you can have it too! If you focus on that rather than your lack of what you want, you will attract it into your life. If you focus on the lack, you’ll only bring in more lack.
This law also speaks to how our subconscious interprets what we say. If you thing negative thoughts about someone else, your subconscious will take that to mean you feel that way about yourself!
In short, watch what you say and think. The Law of Oneness means we are all one in the same, how you treat others is how you treat yourself. How do you want to be treated?
Law of Vibration
The second Universal Law is one that I’ve touched on a little before.
It is also known as the Law of Energy and essentially says that everything is energy and energy is constantly vibrating.
Every thought, emotion, feeling that we have vibrates at a different frequency. We hold different vibrations for things depending on how we feel about them.
Ideally we should hold high vibrations (positive feelings like joy, excitement, happiness) for the things we desire.
We will often choose to use or carry certain herbs, crystals, etc because of the vibration they carry. For example, someone may carry aventurine to attract more money. But if your own feelings about money involve fear, insecurity, and scarcity that piece of aventurine will only do so much!
Law of Correspondence
This is one of the Universal Laws most witches are familiar with, and one I’ve even posted about here!
This is where our ever favorite phrase comes from, “as above, so below.” The idea expands to include “as within, so without.”
Essentially, our outer world is a direct reflection of our inner world, what you see on an elevated plane will be reflected on the physical.
In order to change anything in our physical reality, it needs to first change in our mind!
How we view things in our mental space determines how they appear to us in the physical. Going back to the money example, if you think of money as something that is hard to come by, that will be your reality! But if you think about money coming to you easily… It will come to you with ease! As within, so without.
One of my favorite quotes is a beautiful way to express the meaning of this law: “When you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.” ~Wayne Dyee
Law of Cause and Effect
This law is the basis of karma. Essentially, what you sow you will reap.
The important thing to remember is that the Universe doesn’t care what it is you are sowing, it will let you plant anything and that seed will grow. So be mindful of what you are planting.
In time, you will always get what you give.
Law of Attraction
This is one of the most common Universal Laws. Even if you aren’t familiar with the name, if you are a practicing witch chances are you intentionally use it!
The Law of Attraction at the most basic level is like attracts like, if you hold a certain vibration, you will attract more of that vibration.
You will ALWAYS attract things that match your vibrational frequency.
How do you know what frequency you are holding? Look at your physical reality!
While looking at your reality to check in with your vibration can sometimes be discouraging, keep in mind that your current physical reality is a reflection of your PAST vibrations.
You have the power right now to shift your frequency so that you can attract a better physical reality for your future!
Law of Action
Many people who dive into using the Law of Attraction will sit and visualize and make sure they feel happy and “high vibe” and when the things they are trying to attract don’t come, they get discouraged and frustrated.
Manifestation isn’t going how they want it to because they are ignoring other laws, especially the Law of Action.
No physical manifestation will happen without physical action. People just starting out are often only taking mental, emotional, and spiritual action.
This action could be just about anything. Ideally it would be inspired action. Inspired action is something that feels easy, natural, and generally good. It may be a curiosity that comes out of nowhere, a nudge that doesn’t make any logical sense, but if it feels exciting, it’s probably the place to go!
If you don’t have a spark of inspired action, that’s okay! Often taking any action at all will lead to inspiration!
Law of compensation
This is similar to the Law of Cause and Effect, but deals more with the exchange of value (for us, money).
You need to put out the same value that you wish to receive, without expectation.
If you need help, start helping others however you can.
If you want love and kindness, give love and kindness to others.
When you help other people become their best selves, you are well on your way to becoming your own best self.
Law of Perpetual Transmutation of Energy
Tell me this doesn’t sound like the witchiest of these laws…
This law is the idea that things can be created out of nothing. Energy is always moving and can be manipulated and transmuted according to our intention.
Spellwork directly uses this law.
You have the power to shape the energy around you and change your life in whatever way you want.
Law of Relativity
This law speaks to the challenges we face in life.
We all experience challenges but they are relative to our perspective in that moment. As rough as some of these times may seem, they are all happening for us.
The best thing to do with challenges is handle them with peace. You don’t have to be excited about them, but if you hold negative feelings you’ll only attract more challenges that will cause negative feelings.
Challenges are inevitable. They help us grow. You can’t escape them, but you can reduce them by holding a high vibration and being mindful of how you react to them
Law of Polarity
Polarity is how we determine exactly what we want. How would we know we want to stay warm if we never faced the cold? Experiencing what we don’t want helps us to clearly define what we DO want.
The things in opposition to what we want help us learn to better focus in on what we want
You can use this to your advantage by asking “What do I not want?” and seeing the opposite as what you do want!
This can be especially helpful when creating affirmations or incantations.
Law of Rythmn
Witches and Pagans are naturally inclined to understand this one. We observe the seasons, the Wheel of the Year, the changes Mother Nature goes through. We know there are times of planting, growing, harvesting, and rest.
It is important to recognize this in not only nature, but in ourselves as well!
We go through our own cycles and seasons and should notice and take advantage of them.
Law of Gender
The Law of Gender has almost nothing to do with our own gender expression and sexuality.
It tells us that there are two opposing types of energy, generally referred to as feminine and masculine.
Feminine energy is all about finding flow, receiving, and being patient.
Masculine energy is about hustle, action, and being persistent.
We need both energies in order to create the life we want.
What do we do with the universal laws?
I’m still exploring this for myself, but I think there are a few different ways you can use them.
Use the Universal Laws as essentially a guide or checklist for manifesting what you want. Look at each law as one element you need to include in your manifestation practice.
You could also use them as a way to troubleshoot why you’re not getting what you want. Go through them and see which ones you are or are not applying. Are you sitting around and visualizing to get the right feelings in place but not taking action? Are you taking getting the opposite of what you want as a sign to stop when really it’s just an opportunity to gain more clarity?
I’m sure you could also use them as a framework for a spell!
What laws are you most familiar with? Are there any you need to be paying more attention to?
